My I-140 approved. Based on the July 2007 Visa Bulletin revision threat on June 30th, I have prepared and submitted I-485 package with all necessary documents along with approved I-140 copy. I sent the package to Nebraska Service Center and it reached on July 2nd. In the last minute, my company also submitted the I-485 package. My company sent the package on July 1st and reached on July 2nd at Texas Service Center. This was happened due to some communication gap between my company and me.
My questions are:
1. Will there be any problem if there are two package submitted? One from me and one from my company law firm?
2. Will they reject one of the package? If so, which one will be returned?
3. Is it possible to withdraw one of the package?

My H1B 6 yr limit is set to expire in July 2008. I have an EAD/AP from filing in July. I want to invoke AC21 and change jobs using EAD. I hear a lot of people mention about keeping your H1B visa just in case the I-485 application gets rejected. But even if I extend my H1, it will be based on the fact that I have applied for I-485 since I am over the 6 yr limit. In that case, won't my H1 extension be void too if the I-485 gets rejected. I am not really sure how maintaining H1B/EAD together helps people in my situation. ANy thoughts/inputs welcome.

It's always good to have extra options in terms of work permit. We know that renewal is not cheap, but still safer to have the extra work permit and not solely depend on EAD.

Change your Job. If the job description and responsibilities are same then you have a sure shot at AC21. Choosing a good job is really worth the little effort of filing AC21.

What is the process for licensure to be a nurse in USA-for a person who has done GNM or BSC nursing in India.
Does it make a difference if one has done a GNM or BSc nursing from India, any advantage of one over the other?

My application was received on July 3 at NSC. Till now, I haven't received any notices. I got the RNs by calling USCIS.
Now, I placed an expedite order on my EAD on Friday. They sent me a mail saying my app was received on Oct 10 and not July 3 (yeah right! if it was oct 10, why would you even accept it?). So I faxed them the fedex delivery signature confirmation. Today I see a LUD on my EAD app but nothing else has changed.
Can anyone shed some light on what might possibly going on here? I can probably wait for some more time to find out for sure but I am curious. Guys with approved EAD - did you see a LUD on your app before it was approved?

We have applied for I -485 last month.I am the primary applicant and my spouse is add on.Bothe of us are on H1B and it is valid till end of 2008.
I have applied for EAD and advance parole for my spouse only.We have not yet received the receipt numbers .I was wondering if we want to travel outside the country do we need to wait untill we get any of the above or if we have a valid H1B can we travel outside the country.

Currently on H4 and validity expires on 09/23/2010. Can be applied for extension when principal applicants H1B is being extended(from his company), but since I have my H1B case filed with USCIS, will it create any conflict if I apply for H4 extension now? (ideally for 7 days (23rd sept to 30th sept) !! 'coz if approved, H1B status becomes valid from Oct 1st, right? )
Also, is there any rule which states that, when a case is pending with USCIS, legally you are not supposed to leave the country?

Somebody should open a separate thread with names of attorneys who are not easy / safe to deal with. People can post the names of the attorneys and a brief description (without specifics) about the problem they encountered. This could become an excellent review post for immigration lawyers. we could also maybe put 3 or 4 criteria to score them from 1 to 4. for eg:-
availability to answer questions
timely filing
acurate filing (with all documents)
current with legal provisions and latest changes
overall easiness to work with
cost
etc etc
