My passport is expiring in March. I live in NY metro . Does anyone knows the procedure to renew the passport while in the USA. Please share your experience.
Its very easy and simple. Go to NY Indian Embassy web site and follow the procedure/process to renew passport. It takes about 1-2 weeks, after you mail the old passport along with other documents, for Indian Embassy to process and mail you back the new passport. Good Luck!

Thanks. I see the same from murthy.com
The requirements are that (a) the foreign national must be the beneficiary of a labor certification filing made 365 days prior (or I-140 for those cases that do not need the labor filing); or (b) the labor and I-140 must be approved, with no visa number (based upon the priority date) available.

Nothing positive? Check this out:

There were those who got their I-140 cleared under EB2 and were practically jumping with joy at the door closing behind them. Some were even taking credit for the move :)
Generally it doesnot help to stop line behind you. But here in USCIS world that may help as people from 2006 got GC before people from 2004-5 . If no people from 2006 were there may be 2004- 05 people may have got their card.
but if new administration makes USCIS to more productive ,closing door behind any one will not help.

ANY ONE ON THIS PLEASE
Hi Guys,
I didn't find such a thread in my search. If you thing there is already one please delete this.
I want to start a thread for tracking cases which were transfered from one place to other and to estimate that if we are getting in the back of the queue OR receipt date is acknowledged.
My I 485 transfered from TX to CAL and now to NEBRASKA.
131 AND 765 says received and pending at California
package was received at Texas on 23rd July and Cal center issued notice on Sep 24.
Please let me know if anyone has similar case.
Thanx.

From the horse's mouth
"Adjustment applications and ancillary benefits The new application fee for an I-485 is a package fee that includes associated EAD and advance parole applications. Thus, if you file an I-485 with the fee listed above, while you will still need to submit applications for an EAD and advance parole, you will not need to pay a separate fee so long as your adjustment application is pending. However, if you filed your I-485 before this fee change, to apply for or renew your EAD or advance parole, you must file a new application with the new fee for those applications."
The new fee for I-485 is $1010 but you do not need to pay any additional fees for EAD/AP renewal for the duration of the application which is pretty good saving in my view if you are an indian with with a PD of say 2005 or later under current law.
For comparision purpose, the current fees structure would cost you $325 (for I-485 - one time fee) + $180 ( EAD - Yearly renewals) + $170 (AP - Yearly renewals).
After writing this email, I realised it could be a decent savings under the new system for ppl like me (India.. 2005 PD). I would have gone for it had the fees kicked in earlier than the current July 30th date. Oh well. I will rather file my I-485 and take the AC-21.

I got EAD on February 2008 with my primary GC employer. My PD is just 4 months away and I got a job offer in a big company which I cannot afford to loose.
The the job duties in my new job remain the same but I am worried to change job during this time when PDs are jumping very fast. The max I can delay the joining my new employer cannot be more than a 1 month. Please suggest the best approach...

Well...I guess there are as many different opinions on that, as there are varieties of coffee. For me, it certainly is.
