VersionTracker.com is indispensable for, personally.. With most software phoning for updates though, it's a bit overkill for VTP, so you're right on that one.
The "member" "freebies" on .Mac are the toaster over give away of the intarweb land. Lame x 3
i don't think getting a free versiontracker is enough. I never understood why versiontracker is such a big deal because most of softwares get automatic updates anyway. unless i am missing something, i never use versiontracker.

^^ Israel 80,that chart I suspect jests. The numbers between U.S. and R.F. are about equal although both have only mothballed those they say have been decommissioned and could be brought back into service at any time.

I just can't stand people that automatically declare something illegal because they think it is wrong.
you can't stand people thinking this is illegal? ... do you think the listing is legal?

It's a SCAM period! He just makes it in a way that is a legal SCAM, but a SCAM nonetheless.

This is not an option in Outlook for Mac. You can set Outlook to "Work Offline" mode under Outlook in the Menu bar. this will allow you to hit "send" and the message will go to the Outbox but not connect until you are toggle "Work Offline" .

To me the rollover feature is my insurance plan. 450 isn't a lot, but the 1500 extra minutes in the bank allow me to not worry too much those months when I may call a little more than usual.

As mentioned before, iPhone has continually been compared to Android as platform rather than manufacturer's phone to phone.
The only people who want to compare it that way are apple fans. The rest of the world rightfully compare it according to device. Smartphone OS to smartphone OS.

I need more of you a$$holes to switch to Verizon, thanks to you and Ma Bell I still can't get a decent 3G signal in any airport, city or crowded space. And I can't go CDMA because I go overseas a lot. Otherwise I would have switched in February.

When AppleTV was announced I felt a sense of excitement - finally Apple's set-top box had arrived and Mac fans wanting to bring the experience into their livingroom could do without feeling too much like what they really need is a Windows Media Centre.
Then when iPhone happened I couldn't quite believe it. I was absolutely stunned, despite all the rumours, and was incredibly worried about what it might look like. Could Apple produce an ugly design? The phone has been designed in so many shapes and sizes that surely they can't come up with something completely unique?
When I actually saw the first pictures I was blown away. Now I'm desperately waiting for the video of the keynote to come out so I can see the handset in action. I can completely understand why Steve dedicated almost the entire keynote to the iPhone because it is definitely Apple's most important product launch to date.
Of course I was disappointed that there was no demonstration of Leopard or announcements about the Mac's, but that's obviously not what this Macworld was meant to be about. Instead I now hope we'll see special events over the coming months to give us all the bits we'd have normally received here. What does worry me, as a new switcher to Mac and somebody who has switched his company over with him, is the name change. Dropping 'computer' from the name suggests that the Macs aren't the core business activity any longer. While the name better reflects the direction Apple is going in anyway, the Mac platform needs all the endorsement it can get and I don't think the old name was causing anybody any bother.
All in all it looks to have been an excellent keynote. The iPhone has obviously taken some incredible engineering and I look forward to all the juicy details becoming public over the next few days, weeks and months.

One tip I have for those clients who want to change absolutley every little detail... explain that you are happy to change it all for an extra fee, and you'll even offer a lower hourly rate since you're not being asked to do anything creative, but remind them that they will end up with a site designed by an amateur to their personal, individual taste, rather than the site designed by a professional and designed to appeal to their whole customer base that they've already paid for.
Agree completely. I've found that what a client says they want, and what they really actually want, are frequently two very different things. Some times you have to go with your gut feeling and design something that you know is the proper way to do it. Then also design exactly what they asked for. Present first the one they asked for. When they start making faces, then present this other thing you put together, and they'll probably love it. That's been my experience at least. Yes, it's more work that way, doing it twice, but most customers simply don't have the design experience to be dictating what it should look like - which is precisely why they hired you.
