Note that this is most likely from where the representative from Florida got her information and was paraphrasing, albeit with poor word choice....
I guess the Times was stuck between blaming the victim and having another Jena 6 story on their hands.
A poor word choice is not to go from this: They said she dressed older than her age, wearing makeup and fashions more appropriate to a woman in her 20s. She would hang out with teenage boys at a playground, some said...
to this:
...There was an article about an 11 year old girl who was gangraped in Texas by 18 young men because she was dressed like a 21-year-old prostitute....And her parents let her attend school like that. And I think its incumbent upon us to create some areas where students can be safe in school and show up in proper attire so what happened in Texas doesnt happen to our students.
The Times described a situation; Rep. Passidomo used that horrible situation to justify her stance on school uniforms by making the pernicious inference that wardrobe choices could lead to rape.
Similar thinking in Afghanistan and Iran leads women to wear burkhas, lest men become so incensed at the shape of an ankle or nape that they cannot help themselves. These cultures hold women, and not the rat bastards who commit the act, responsible. And Passidomo is using the exact same logic.

Anyone else going to be at the AT&T store @ 53rd and Elmore? I'm not sure what time I'm planning on being there.

I have always used Safari since it came out, but since Jan '06 (and moving to the country), I have had to switch to Camino/Firefox because I now have Satellite internet.
The problem I have is that Safari is lazy and won't wait as long as it takes for a page to load. It will just show broken image icons where the graphics should be. The other aforementioned browsers take their time and keep accessing the page until it loads, even if I open multiple tab pages at once.
I would love to go back to Safari if they would fix this problem or if there was some box I needed to check/uncheck in the prefs.
Any ideas?

Steve just does not look well in that photo - I even had to look closely to see if he'd been Photoshopped in or not as the colour of his skin is so different to the others'...
Yeah that photo is Ollllllld.
Like a year or so.

The tech at the Cingular store told me it would be next year before 5 will appear. Not sure how reliable that is or where he got his info. I asked him how sure of that he was. He stated he was very sure.

MUAHAAHA. Both of this chucklehead's crap auctions have been nullified and zapped into the ether by eBay. The original link is dead and searching the seller's past auctions yields no iphone auctions...only a fugly handbag he used when he was crossdressing. The toolbag gets NOTHING (as if he ever would have) and the buyer has zero obligation to pay this fool a dime (as if they ever did).
So stratobaterdan, let's hear all about how you're going to sue eBay or take the headquarters hostage with your toy guns, or whatever your next fantasy is. Wait, what's that? I think I hear your momma calling...

The report said that Sharp was no longer a candidate for Apple's investment.</p>The article notes that Sharp has issued a statement refuting the claim, reporting that the statement "contradicts the facts". I think Microsoft's Remote Desktop is a wonderful app.Agreed, this is a very handy app. Unfortunately, when I tried it a few months ago, it wouldn't work for me. It took me a while to figure out why. The answer: All the PCs I wanted to connect to have Symantec pcAnywhere (http://sea.symantec.com/content/product.cfm?productid=16) installed, and that prevents Microsoft's app from working, whether by design or for some technical reason. So I can't control the PCs as I'd hoped.

Actually,
there is a shipping Blu-Ray Drive from Sony right now (in reality, it's in the Vaio, the retail version, while out in SKU, ships the 1st week of August), which has a standard 5.25 form-factor and is below $1000.
Apple COULD make use of that if Sony ships in quantity, and to other manufacturers early on...
Uh, genius, Apple doesn't make Blu-ray. Apple has to wait for Sony & Co to release Blu-ray drives, which we all knew would be in late 2006.

Unfortunately, facts do not matter to these people, as most IT departments are clueless about TCO.
Actually most IT managers/departments are very informed about TCO, which is why they don't shell out the money for hardware that is 2x as expensive, software that is 4x as expensive (due to miserable volume licensing plans for OS X), the cost of training support and logistics personnel to support Macs/OS X, and the amount of time it will take to retrain users to use the new hard/software.
Ironically, most people who make statements such as yours either aren't in IT or have a very unrealistic view of the world.
I would really like some good arguments to put to him regarding why mac's should be allowed on our company network and should form part of our IT systems.
When you write your proposal, consider using proper English grammar. "Macs" as in "a number of computers made by Apple" does not, notice, have an apostrophe.
The basic fact of the matter is that large, established Windows-based network infrastructures have no incentive at all to switch to Apple machines.
Enterprise-support from the manufacturer (Apple)? HUGE fail.
Seriously. This is what guarantees Dell's, HP's, and RIM's complete dominance of the enterprise market. Who would have guessed that when your central business functions depend on your hardware being "up" it doesn't cut it to have to bring a unit into an Apple Store?
